Family Science Nights

Family Science Nights are held regularly throughout the school year for families who would like to add a dash of science, technology engineering and math to their lives.

Registration Fee: $20/participant (all adults and children are required to pay the registration fee). Pizza and drinks are included.
*Pre-registration is required and payment in full is necessary at the time of registration. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Payment is non-refundable except in the event of program cancellation.

ROBOT RENDEZVOUS

Robots are everywhere! Discover the world of robotic engineering while working together as a family team. Arrive prepared to problem solve and think creatively as we design, test and redesign our Moss and Cubelet robots.

 

JOURNEY TO MARS – COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT NIGHT

Ages:  Grades 5-12 (only children will participate but parents can assist)

Join us for our FREE JOURNEY TO MARS Community Engagement night. Participants will have the opportunity to build a straw rocket, create a Mars habitat using 3D printing pens, learn about the effects of lower gravity and more!

FAMILY MISSION TO MARS

Ages: Grade 5+

Moms in Mission Control! Dads digging at GEO! Grandparents navigating the MTV! Participants will undertake a daring mission to explore the red planet. The goals of this mission are to find signs of life and water and to keep your crew safe as you explore Mars. Teamwork is vital to the success of this mission as an asteroid streaks toward the planet. How will your crew save the day?

 

SUPER STEM CHALLENGE NIGHT

February 8, 2019

Ages: Grade 2+

Robotic engineering, super structures and electrifying circuitry challenges are our three family science night challenges. As your family alternates through each activity, you will discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math! Teamwork and curiosity required.

 

OUR PLACE IN SPACE

May 3, 2019

Ages: Grade 1+

Join us for a night of space exploration in Woodstock. Your journey will include a brief presentation in our interactive Digital Starlab where families will explore the universe under the dome of this portable planetarium. Explorers will also trek through hands-on experiments and demonstrations as they rotate through learning stations and experiments. Discover the wonders of STEM with us in May.

 

ROCKETRY ROUND UP

Date: May 10, 2019

Price: $30 for rocket builders (Includes a rocket kit)/ $20 for pizza and presentation only (no rocket kit included)

Ages: Grade 3+

Fox Valley Rocketeers will be here to build rockets with us! After an amazing rocketry presentation, they will show us the steps of a successful rocket build and then provide dates, times and places to blast off safely at a location with their assistance. Anyone who registers is welcome to build a rocket. The cost is $30 for all rocket builders. Parents and chaperones who just want to assist and or observe will pay $20 for the rocketry presentation and pizza. Parents and chaperones are encouraged to assist their own young rocketeers in the building process if they do not want to build their own rocket.
